I have a Dogue de Bordeaux bitch that is a super keen hunter. She's not big for her breed (42kg) & is very agile, & super keen to please & retrieve. She has retrieved ducks without any training but is a bit stubborn.
I also have a male Bullmastiff (67kg) who isn't so keen (he doesn't like getting wet!) but I bred them & 2 of the last pups are now very good hunting dogs & 1 is on a dairy farm getting in the cows.
Anybody else use them?

Here's two of mine in Zambia.
African Mastiff or Boer boel
These two are not even 12 months old.
Big and slow.
Wouldn't like to try and hunt any dog this size.
Over heating issue .
Bitch got bitten by cobra last month and we nearly lost her.
They got spit sprayed in there eyes month before so slow learners.
But we never get robbed.

The Standard for them is very open in shape size and colour.
Our male in my view is what I see as what a Boer boel should look like while the bitch throw more Mastiff traits.
Very loyal and love attention.
The male follows the kids around yard all day.

Yes but it's varys from we are not getting out of car or even coming in gate until they are locked up.
They remember family and friends .
Truth is that they love a pat .
Night time is different

Zamkiwi was that a spitting cobra? I nearly copped it from one of them in the South Luangwa National Park was getting a bit of fire wood from the pile at flat dogs camp site saw it just at the last second and managed to dive out of the way in time :( the spray went all over my legs. Which I washed down with dettol and milk straight away as I had come cuts on my legs. The local Askari sorted out snakey with a rake through the top of the head:thumbsup:
Good to hear your dog pulled through though.
