I just had Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres put on the cruiser, had an alignment done (all the blue and green flashing lights) but it now has a slight shimmy at 90 km that wasn't there before, crook balance? take it back or suck it? madmaori
A problem when touring around sh1t happens after you leave somewhere.

Yeah high speed wobble normally balance issues.
Low speed tire issues (separation)
Some places don't know how to really balance a tire.
For instance, the machine will say add 30gms. then on the next spin it will say ad 10 at a different place (but really close to the 30.)
Some guys add a seperate 10gms when you really only need to move the 30 a smidge.
When some tires caller HUGE amounts of weight, sometimes deflating and spinning the tire 90degrees can make a difference.

There seems to be big variations in the accuracy of wheel alignment outfits.

Had Tony's do it once and the result was bloody hopeless. I now get the long-standing pro outfit round here to do them and the results have always been good. Has both the car and truck done in the last month, both obviously improved by it, particularly the line holding on the open road.

Some places if struggling to get wheel alignment in, they will push on the tyres and get another person to hit next on the screen.
Then it saves the data like it was done correctly.

Good bit of rubber those tyres are!
sounds like she might have thrown a weight , when you speed up does the shimmy bugger off?
if so its just a balance problem madjon_

I had new BFGs fitted , they balanced them up , from memory was 180 grams of lead on 1 tyre & slightly less on other 1 . ( was half the rim ) .Imagine if id lost the lead off them , be like driving on square wheels . I spat the dummy when I realised And returned them. Shop wasn't happy , tried to say rims must be out , we checked them perfect . New tyres & never went back . I wondered if they where seconds ? if there such a thing ?

na wouldn't be seconds Munsey , do have they odd problem with tyres that are a light truck construction not balancing the best- quite often we will break the beads and spin the tyre 180 degrees , reinflate and then check the balance again. If that doesn't sort the problem and the rims are in good nick then we will put a replacement on.

My XMT's ended up with a fair chuck of weights added to a couple of wheels and they were new rims too, I just lived with it. Haven't knocked any off in the rocks yet....
